Know who you are. Know where you’re going.
I needed to know what to do with my life more than I wanted the suspense to end over when I would fall in love and get married. Really, I did. Well, actually the strong desire to know both of these huge, life-shaping events was just the same.
I couldn’t make my husband appear on command, and I moved the spotlight to discovering what I was supposed to do with my life. Many years would pass by until I realized actual reasons existed to explain why I couldn’t find my purpose. I had a good life and felt like I had no right to complain. But I wanted a great life.
What holds me back?
I wanted a promising future and had no idea how to reach it. I had two small clues about who I was without any idea who I could become. I had big dreamy feelings imagining I would capture a great future without having any idea what I could do or who I wanted to be.
On my journey to become more than who I was, the evidence showed I was the one blocking the way ahead. After the shock melted away, I began to process these new findings. And I made a list of what held me back.
I struggled to see the future. Confusion had a greater place in my life than clarity. Trying new things could be an impossible challenge with a fear of the unknown. These poor qualities inside me battled with and overpowered the talent God had already created on the inside.
This four-part phrase sums up how my dreams turned into reality
Believe God
Tame your fear
Know who you are
Grab your life

Isaiah 42:16
I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, And crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, And not forsake them.

Beth has a Christian based background as a child with spirituality woven throughout her life. She believes there is no comparison to the miracles, happy surprises and blessings in her life when she asked God to direct her and those times when she led the way on her own. Beth has often said, “I am not a lucky person. I never have been. I can only explain that a higher power collaborates in a most positive way on my behalf. I believe God looks out for me and blesses me all because I make a point to let him know I give him the credit for the goodness in my life. I make a point to talk to him every day even if it’s for a minute.”
