Get Started, Get Dreaming

Get Started, Get Dreaming

How Do I Start?

Dream, girl is a project designed to help other girls who only know how to be concerned the way has not been found and not actually know how to find the way. And to guide those who are confused about who they are and where to begin to find all they were created to be. Just like me, someone else is needed to show a different, healthier direction to place our focus.

Three days before my aunt died, I had the opportunity to thank her for being my first life coach before I knew what one was or that I needed occasional appointments with one.

She never was paid as a life coach or had a certification, but she consistently prioritized being a student of life and became a teacher on how to live well. I can honestly say I made finding my way harder and more complicated than achieving my purpose had to be. I am better now extending grace to myself and realizing I had more than a few obstacles to overcome. We, too, can become students on how to live life until we develop into teachers. Don’t forget to watch for a new peace when alone at night and the bundle of negativity starts to shrink.

Breakthroughs, Moments, and New Beginnings

I don’t remember if I was in second or third grade, but I remember climbing onto my parent’s bed and telling my mom I wanted to be saved. I repeated the words she told me to pray and just like that Jesus was in my heart. Being a Christian isn’t strange to me although I do admit it sounds odd in these modern days. But in a world where emphasis is placed on feelings, it doesn’t feel weird to be a Christian. I feel more grounded, loved, cared for and have more knowledge about who I am and where I am going.

Things weren’t so easy after elementary school, and I became in charge of the decisions.

Several years into adulthood, I realized I hadn’t captured the fullness of life I had expected. I had a good life and felt like I had no right to complain, but I wanted a great life. Not until years of frustration with how I had guided my life did I see the truth of how I had lived. I loved Jesus for saving me from my sin, but I didn’t want God to guide me. Many years past high school graduation went by until I asked God to take over the direction of the life He had given me.

And that’s when it all began to change, right? No, not really. I would need one more moment to come my way.

My morning routine was the same. I got a shower first, put on my make-up and would emerge from the bathroom to wake my husband to start his morning. Except this particular morning he wasn’t in the bed. I walked into the living room and found him with his head down in his favorite chair. He started a quiet time without announcing it to me. I continued to find him morning after morning beginning his day with God. Two weeks later, I decided to join him.

Yes, that’s when things started to change. I asked Jesus to save me, I asked God to guide me, and I started talking to God everyday. I am not saying there is a formula we can all follow to start to have clarity over our life. God is capable of instant miracles and has written your own story for life, but once these three moments came together is when confusion started to melt away for me. Journal your breakthroughs, the moments, and expect new days ahead. The more you learn about God, the more you learn about yourself.

Start with 30 seconds of conversation with God everyday and see what happens.

Link It Together

A couple of my favorite links for strength and personality profiles. I have used both of these resources, which helped me see more of who I had been created to be.
